4215 – Aegis Zoology: Common Species (by Ohaythar121)

Hail friends, I am Sillion, the author of this book. From my many years of living in the wilds, I grew a strong bond with the species that roamed its grassy knools, and dark crevices. But, up until recent times, I’ve never fully studied these creatures to any extent. However, thanks to recent developments, I’ve taken the time to examine many specimens of almost all species. :: In this book, we shall take a look at the peaceful members of our ecosystem. These beasts feed us, cloth us, and sometimes even fight with us. But, it’s not often we take the time to figure out what they are really doing whilst we aren’t gettign something from them. Luckily, I’ve taken the time to see their habits in nature first hand. :: Chapter 1: The Pig :: Ah the pig. We feed on it’s succulent meat, find mushrooms with it’s help, and raise them like the intelligent pets they are. But, we don’t often give them the credit they deserve. For one, their meat is often known as tasty, but it’s not quite that simple. Raw, a piece of pork will not only fill your belly, it’s old body was so resistant to diseases that it’s almsot impossible for one to catch anything from it. However, when the meat is cooked, the real magic hapens. When a piece of pork is baked, the protein and nutrients release from the crevices of it’s fatty deliciousness. THis means, a more satisfying meal, and it helps a adventurer build the muscle and strength needed to survive in our beautiful land. ::Pigs are also well known for their quickness to become attached to people. THis is because of two major factors. One, the pig is a little scavenger, well adapted to the lands of Aegis, and will discover the easiest path to survival very, very quickly. And two, pigs are highly intelligent creatures, known for their very advanced breeding patterns that roam amongst the land, and their extremely adept sense for mushrooms. Therefore, they have a knack for most races of Aegis, when treated correctly. :: So, in conclusion, be kind to the gentle, wise pig, for they are worthy of our respect, and admiration. Perhaps even, our love. :: Chapter 2: The Sheep :: The gentle sheep. A curious creature, known for it’s penchant for sugar cane, and it’s obviously fluffy coat, the sheep is a important part of our ecosystem, and daily life. Anyone who has worked as a tailor knows the supple, comfortable, poofy material known as wool far too well. Easily harvestable using a pair of shears, the wool produced from sheep makes up a vast majority of our clothing. ::The sheep also has another odd quality, it’s completely inedible meat. As an ex-huner gatherer, this quality is a mix of infuriating, and biologicaly fascinating. Upon further study, the real reason of the sheep’s odd meat acidity, and poison, is it’s Upon further study, the real reason of the sheep’s odd meat acidity, and poison, is it’s diet, and lifestyle. The sheep are known for eating large amounts of sugar cane, not a volatile mix itself. But, when coupled with the amount of toadstools sheep consume, it makes a strong poison to most sentient races in Aegis. Perhaps the future will hold a soylvent to cure the posion is sheep meat, but for now, we must gaze upon with distaste, and dissapointment. :: Chapter 3: The Chicken :: The little chicken. A creature known for it’s annoying habitual clucking, it’s succulent meat, and it’s feathers, which are invaluable to archers world wide. Now, to begin observing the chicken’s life, you must first observe the chicken itself. Well known for its small stature, the chicken is an abundant food source. Due to the fact that it’s meat is easily obtainalbe from it’s corpse, many a hunter has been saved by this little fellow. Their feathers are another interesting trait of the little chicken. While it chickens are small, their feathers are notoriously tough, making them a very viable component of arrow making. But, chickens also have one more thing about them that stuns zoologists everywhere. When observed from a upclose, the chicken appears to just be a normal animal, going about it’s buisness of procreating, eating, and sleeping. But, when observed from a distance. the chicken begins to display signs of intelligence. Not only will chickens gather together, in seemingly meeting-esque groups, they also appear to watch places of sentient inhabitance with odd curiosity. What does the mean for us? Perhaps the chickens are much more intelligent then we know or perhaps we’re simply paranoid of the little guys. Only the future holds the answer to this mystery. :: Chapter 4: The Cow
