0980 – The Oren Regular -First Issue!- 7/23/2011 (by nitsuadeschenes)

This is the Oren Regular’s first issue! This is the first and only newspaper in all of Aegis! It will feature columns, news, reviews, interviews, and more! :: :: WORLD EVENTS: :: :: -The Attack on Oren- :: :: The night draws upon the world of Aegis. What was a sunny and bright day turns to an ominous overcast. Rain coats the kingdom in an eery sheen while thunder cracks out in lashes of fury against the night sky. The city stirs in anticipation. Moans sound from the North, then… the General shouts for guards and militia alike to report to the barracks. :: At the barracks the King and General don their diamond armor and rally the troops. Ready for battle they approach the Northern wall where Captain Grimbeard meets them. :: They have few men but the expert commanding of General Giffords and Captain Grimbeard turn the small force into an unbreakable shield. The undead relentlessly pound against the Northern wall. :: After many hours victory seems near, many undead fall under the combined weight of the archers on the walls and the soldiers on the ground. :: But then something arrives… an earsplitting moan echoes in the helms of the soldiers. The ground heaves with the weight of something massive. The King yells “GIANT ZOMBIE”. The General rallies his men together and with Grimbeard at the lead they charge the abomination. After along and hard battle they fell the beast. Some wounded but the kingdom is safe. :: After the battle the General had this to say, “For the King”. :: :: :: ADVERTISEMENTS: :: :: Banok’s Arms & Armor :: The prices at this amazing armor shop the lowest in all of Alkhazar! The shop is always open, making for a convenient shopping experience. The owner, Banok, is a skilled blacksmith, making some of the finest steel in the world. :: This shop is located at the harbor in Oren, across from the Queen’s Bakery and under the Frosty Dwarf’s Tavern. :: Stop by and see what made this Arms shop so phenomenal! :: :: INTERVIEW: :: :: – The Seneschal – :: We were able to interview the Seneschal of Oren and ask him a few quick questions concerning the kingdom and its affairs. :: Q: Do the recent undead attacks pose a threat to the citizens of Oren, do they worry you? :: A: The undead have done little to Alkhazar. Oren is well defended and although Winterfell and Alstion were attacked most made it out alive. :: Q: The city is rapidly growing, there plans to re-expand the city borders or develop sections of the city like you did with the docks? :: A: Yes, we setting up new homes in the Trade District. We also setting up a new district by the Temple. It will be an entertainment district housing homes, shops, and the Grand Arena :: Q: How relations with the other nations? There rumors of orcs attacking citizens of Aegis without reason. :: :: A: Relations are generally good but some orc groups have declared war on Oren. These groups are small, unorganized, and pose no threat to Oren, however. :: :: :: COLUMNS: :: Oren Regular Column :: Alright ladies and gents, I’m going to introduce you to the first copy of the Oren Regular Column. My name is Tim Drossen and I’ll be the lead columnist for The Oren Regular. Any other columns not by me will be marked by the author’s name at the end of the column. I’ll be doing personal opinions, views, rants, and short fictional stories. If you have any comments about any story, feel free to stop by the shop and yell them at me! I’ll be in my office ignoring your shouts. Enjoy! :: :: RANT: :: That ****ing Fisherman :: “One of these days that fisherman will slip and I’ll be waiting” – Kendrick :: This rant is going to sound absurd, and guess what, it is. Fisherman Petra is the most annoying man in the kingdom of Oren! All he does is pace back and forth on the docks, eyeing people suspiciously, claiming everyone is doing something wrong. When we were building our establishment in the harbor he called me out numerous times! What am I doing you ask?? BUILDING MY OWN DAMN STORE THATS WHAT! His constant peering into other people’s business rivals the curiousity of a newborn. Shameful. I have never seen the man fish. Not once. EVER. He claims to be a fisherman, constantly commenting on how good the day is for fishing (No matter the weather mind you) yet I’ve seen him do nothing but pace that dock every day and night. I’d be shocked to learn that the man even sleeps! I say we cut him into tiny pieces and use him for bait! He’ll be much more useful then… :: :: That concludes the first issue of the Oren Regular!
