Recently in Kal’Urguan there was a small rebellion. It was caused by the breaking of a law by a man named Chris. :: The law he broke was small, he sold goods that he produced from his home. Kal’Urguan law states that one can not make profit off their home, only designated shops. The guard of the city noticed his infraction, and came to his door. A small argument led to Chris ru nning away from the guard. The officer who was on the job called the guard together, before persuing. While the guard assembled, Chris ran to the chapel. He told the priests that the guard were out to kill him. The priests took him into their shelter, and went out to confront the guard. :: :: Now, here’s where the story get’s interesting. :: :: Eventually conversation broke down, and the priests retreated to the inner grounds, where the chapel lay. The guards managed to close the gates to the inner grounds in time to trap one (1), priest between the two gates. Now, the priest was TECHNICALLY a criminal by this point, they all were, because they were aiding a criminal escape the law. :: But should they have been classed as criminal? They were doing what their religion stated as correct! They were protecting the life of another. His life was being threatened! And law typically states not to interfere with religon. :: Eventually, after more failed negotiations, the priest was broken free, and returned to his brethren :: :: but this LEGALLY only furthered the criminalization of the priests. Eventually, passed threats had the guard sitting outside the guardhouse and the priests in the chapel. With occasional negotiators passing accross to each other’s side of the combatless battlefield of words. There was alot of shouting, and alot of ideas cropped up on both sides. Until eventually agreement was met, we would throw Chris out the gates, and banish him, never to return to Kal’Urguan. :: :: This still raises the question, how far can religion go, before law can or must intervene? Were the Priests right to protect Chris? Were the guard right to capture the priest? :: As it stands, the reached resolution worked, the priests excused of all crime. Though tension is very high between guard and priest. And argument often breaks out. :: :: :: :: Thank you for reading. This has been a book by Gorund Nilcagith, Bard and Guardsman of Kal ‘Urguan
