1474 – Tikatu Sword Style (by hmqb)

The Tikatu style is a method of dueling passed down by masters, and is not limited to just swords bu t is best used with them The prinicple of the style is careful hits, and the art of not being hit :: First we will talk about the basic method used in this style It is bassed upon the charge, but at the last moment you shift to the right or left If done correctly you should end up striking at the side of your opponent You always want to circle to one side and stay a soild 2 blocks away The key is not to charge straight into combat but to drift to the side Personally I prefer moving to the left, but it is prefrence Test this with mobs and find which direction suits you best The next step after the intial charge leaves you with options If your enemy has turned with you continue around them in a circle shape The whole time make sure to stay a soild distance away, and try not be hit If you are getting hit put more distance between you and your enemy Remember a key component is that you be running towards thier position but not directly at them Although you do not want to ever turn your back and run or a backwards retreat You want to following them from you direction you started with a form a circle around them If your enemy does not follow you though then instead of circling you come up onto thier back side and hit them from behind as fast as possible Most fights occur with an intial charge and blows standing still, but always keep moving The speciality of this style is that you don’t charge hit them and then go back for another charge you hit them over and over but keep moving around them Another technique to combine with this is the art of how fast to strike Always remember to pace your blows and make sure they are dead on Do not swing as fast as you can but in swift soild strikes that do not allow your opposition to recover Practice circling around mobs, and even other players This style is meant for one on one battles and should not be used in large scale battles The most likely course of battle will be a running battle The enemy will just be rushing right at you and in your attempt to circle you will both be running off in a almost diagnol line, but as long as you stay ahead you will still win If the battle turns to each person aking hits you can disengage by running through them This is done by twsiting to run directly at them and hitting them while they hit you, but while you do you run through them and continue until a safe distance a turn around After this gauge your own health and your estimate of thiers You should both be in a position to charge each other agian and if your low on health change your style to going to one side and then after your first hit disengaging This is done by making the hit and backing off and going the direction you were before but this time out of range Then pull another fast turn around a repeat, but at this point You want to fake the direction you went last time and go the other direction, and then even not engage. Do this by getting close then changing to the other side and backing off as they run at you. This will cause them be running head long at you where you will pull a nasty trick. You back off until they get almost within range and you jump to the side and strike them twice in th e back. Then back off as they regain thier balance and you use any number of the moves that seems fit to finish them off. Msot of the time only the circle stratagy is neccisary but it is good to have a large set of moves. Also you may think this is all stuiped, but when you put into play well practiced moves your combat becomes much better. Now intergrate special moves into this and your good to go.
