1408 – The History of Rasun’Dural (by Rasun37)

Hail. My name is Rasun. I don’t remember much of my childhood. The main thing I remember when I was young was the Orc attack on my old village. They came in, smashing and bashing everyone, screaming their terrible war cries. One crashed into our home and stole all our minas, and attacked my family. I… was hiding. I watched the whole scene from a window outside. When I was sure the orcs had gone, I went into my home. Only my mother, Gimlond, had survived. She told me to leave and grow up to fight the evil orcs, but I insisted that she come with me. However, she refused. So I left. … Several years had passed, I believe I was around 17 when I came across an amazing sight along my travels. I watched as six wolves took down a mighty moose and killed it with cunning skill. I watched in amazement as they carried it back to their cave for the pack to eat. I decided to keep wandering. About ten minutes later, I heard a small whimpering noise. I looked abd looked and found two small wolf puppies lying in a ditch. One of them seemed hurt. Heading down, I was able to save them. Luckily I remembered the location of the cave. The wolf pack was searching restlessly for their puppies. I slowly approached, with the pups following. The alpha-male stared at me with bristling fur, then when he saw the pups, he calmed a bit. The puppies ran up squealing to their father. The father looked up at me… as if… he had forgiven me… as if… he now trusted me. I wandered away a bit, and found a cave to rest for the night. I was awoken the next day by a licking tongue! Jolted awake I saw the mother and the two puppies. They semmed to want me for something. I followed then back to their den and found the father standing there looking at me. And to my amazement, seemed to beckon me into the den. One thing they didn’t have in there was light, and little did I know, there was a skeleton waiting in the shadows. The pack was inside, eating moose from the previous night. I went there, and out of my starvation, ripped into it. I must have looked like a wolf myself. When I was finished eating, I went to go rest in the other part of the cave. Then the skeleton attacked. He shot me in the leg, and I screamed in pain. The wolves came running in and leaped upon the skeleton ripping it apart. Bones were scattered across the floor . I took them up, and gave some to the puppies. They looked at me with loving eyes and I knew they trusted me, forever. Dural became my new name, which means spirit of a wolf. Once the puppies, whom I named Falias and Azili. had grown up, I left. Whenever I turned around, they were following me! So I set off with them Coming to a place called the Cloud Temple of Aegis, I found many different races there. Humans, Elves, Orcs, and even Fellow Dwarves. I went up to the dwarves and they told me they come from a grand underground city where all dwarves live. They gave me a map, and I was on my way. Arriving at the city, some looked at me with scorn for having wolves, while others looked friendly. This place, is where I decided to live my life in peace. Kal’Urguan is what it is called. Even though my best friends, Falias, and Azili, have passed on since then, I am happy. I, Rasun’Dural, have a fierce, loyal, brave, and cunning spirit of the dead father of that great wolf pack I met long ago, deep in the Wilds of Aegis.
